MAME4droid (0.37b5)

MAME4droid, crafted by David Valdeita (Seleuco), is an adaptation of the popular iMAME4all for Android devices. This emulator is a port of MAME 0.37b5, originally developed by Nicola Salmoria and his team, and it builds upon the foundation laid by Franxis's GP2X, WIZ MAME4ALL 2.5.

With MAME4droid, users can enjoy emulating a vast collection of over 2000 arcade game romsets from MAME 0.37b5, alongside additional games from more recent MAME iterations. It's important to note that, given the sheer volume of supported games, performance can vary widely. Some games may run smoothly, while others might not be compatible at all. As such, we kindly request that users refrain from sending emails requesting specific game compatibility.

For those with older devices, achieving optimal performance might be challenging. To enhance gameplay, consider lowering sound quality or turning it off, opting for 8-bit depth, underclocking the CPU and Sound CPUs, and disabling animations for sticks and buttons as well as smooth scaling.

To get started, simply place your zipped MAME roms into the /sdcard/ROMs/MAME4all/roms directory after installation. MAME4droid is designed to work exclusively with MAME4droid and iMAME4all romsets, specifically '0.37b5' and 'GP2X, WIZ 0.37b11 mame romset'. If you're using roms from other MAME versions, utilize the "clrmame.dat" file located in /sdcard/ROMs/MAME4all/ to convert them to the compatible format using the ClrMAME Pro utility, which can be found at http://mamedab.emulab.it/clrmamepro/.

Please be aware that MAME4droid does not support "save states" due to its foundation on a MAME version that lacks this feature.
