Avatar: Seven Havens Officially Announced, Set After the Events of The Legend of Korra

In an exciting development for fans of the beloved franchise, Nickelodeon and Avatar Studios have officially announced a new animated series titled Avatar: Seven Havens. This announcement comes as part of the celebration of the 20th anniversary of the iconic series, Avatar: The Last Airbender. The creators of the original series, Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, are bringing this new chapter to life, promising to expand the rich universe they first introduced two decades ago.

Set to be a 26-episode, 2D animated series, Avatar: Seven Havens will follow the journey of a young Earthbender who discovers she is the next Avatar after Korra. The series is set in a world ravaged by a catastrophic event, where being the Avatar marks her as a potential destroyer rather than a savior. As she faces threats from both human and spirit enemies, she, alongside her long-lost twin, embarks on a quest to unravel their mysterious origins and protect the Seven Havens, the last bastions of civilization.

In their statement, Konietzko and DiMartino expressed their enthusiasm for the project, saying, "When we created the original series, we never imagined we’d still be expanding the world decades later. This new incarnation of the Avatarverse is full of fantasy, mystery, and a whole new cast of amazing characters."

The series will be divided into two seasons, each consisting of 13 episodes, titled Book 1 and Book 2. Alongside DiMartino and Konietzko, Ethan Spaulding and Sehaj Sethi will serve as executive producers. While the cast for the new series has yet to be revealed, anticipation is already building.

Avatar: Seven Havens marks the first mainline TV series from Avatar Studios, which is also working on a full-length animated movie featuring adult Aang. Scheduled for release on January 30, 2026, this movie promises to take fans on another thrilling adventure with the beloved character.

As part of the 20th anniversary celebration, Avatar Studios is not stopping at just the new series and movie. They are also launching a variety of new books, comics, concerts, toys, and a game on Roblox to commemorate this significant milestone in the franchise's history.
