Camper Waits Outside San Francisco Nintendo Store for Switch 2 Before It Opens

By GabrielApr 20,2025

The excitement for the Nintendo Switch 2 is palpable, with one dedicated fan already setting up camp outside the new Nintendo Store in San Francisco, even though it won't open its doors until May 15. YouTuber Super Cafe documented his journey in a video released on April 8, detailing his flight over 800 miles to be the first in line on the west coast for both the store opening and the anticipated release of the Nintendo Switch 2.

Super Cafe, who has only been in his new apartment for two months, admitted that this camping endeavor might not be the wisest financial decision. However, his enthusiasm for being the first to get his hands on the new console is undeterred. "Terrible financial decision on my end. Whatever, who cares," he remarked, showcasing his commitment to the cause.

This isn't the first time a Nintendo store has seen such dedication. The New York store also has a camper waiting for the Switch 2. Super Cafe, mostly going solo, has even invited others interested in joining him in San Francisco to get in touch. He plans to address questions about his accommodations, food, showers, and other necessities in a future Q&A.

The tradition of camping out for major Nintendo releases, particularly new consoles, has a long history. With campers now at both coastal Nintendo stores, it remains to be seen if this will spark a trend of others joining the line. What's clear is the dedication of these content creators.

The Nintendo Switch 2 is set to launch on June 5, 2025. For those not keen on camping out, our guides on Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders provide valuable information, though ongoing tariffs are complicating matters for potential buyers in the United States.
