Capcom Aims to Expand the Versus Series and Revive Crossover Fighting Titles

At Evo 2024, Capcom showcased three of the seven games in the Marvel vs Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics, a complete package containing six core games from the popular Versus series. This collection includes Marvel vs Capcom 2, considered a top-tier fighting game. During the event, IGN interviewed Capcom producer Shuhei Matsumoto, who discussed Capcom's dedication to the Versus series and the long process of creating this collection.

Matsumoto stated the collection's development spanned three to four years, emphasizing the significant work involved. The process started with extensive talks with Marvel, causing an initial release delay. Nevertheless, the collaboration proved fruitful, with both companies eager to offer these classic games to contemporary players. "We've been planning for about three, four years to make this project a reality," Matsumoto said. This commitment reflects Capcom's devotion to its fanbase and the lasting impact of the Versus series.
