Yukiko's Castle is the first major dungeon players will explore in Persona 4 Golden. Though it spans only seven floors, it serves as an essential learning ground where players can familiarize themselves with the game's mechanics and ease into its combat system.
While the initial floors present minimal challenge, the later ones introduce the formidable Magical Magus, the toughest random enemy you'll encounter in the dungeon. Understanding its affinities is key to overcoming it efficiently.
Magical Magus Weakness & Skills In Persona 4 Golden
Null | Strong | Weak |

Fire | Wind | Light |
The Magical Magus boasts several skills capable of inflicting significant damage on unprepared players. Its attacks primarily revolve around fire damage, making fire-resistance accessories from golden chests in Yukiko's Castle invaluable. These accessories not only help against the Magical Magus but are also crucial for the boss fight at the end of the dungeon.
When the Magical Magus begins to gather magic power, it's wise to guard the next turn. It often unleashes Agilao, a potent tier-two fire spell that can severely damage or even knock out an unprepared party member. Additionally, Hysterical Slap can deal considerable physical damage with its double hit, though Agilao remains the primary threat. In this scenario, it's best for the protagonist, the only character who can acquire light skills early in the game, to lead the fight. Meanwhile, Chie and Yosuke should focus on guarding to avoid being taken down.
Early-Game Persona With A Light Skill In Persona 4 Golden
The optimal early-game Persona equipped with a light skill is Archangel, which naturally possesses Hama. Archangel also learns Media at level 12, a skill that proves invaluable during the boss fight on the final floor. As a level 11 Persona, Archangel can be fused using:
- Slime (Level 2)
- Forneus (Level 6)
In Persona 4 Golden, light and dark skills function as instant-kill attacks, with Hama exploiting the enemy's weakness for a near-guaranteed instant kill. This makes even the strongest enemies in the dungeon, like the Magical Magus, remarkably easy to defeat. Given its high level, the Magical Magus becomes an excellent target for farming, provided you have items to replenish your SP or are willing to enter the boss fight with reduced resources.
