Deltarune's Exclusive Switch 2 Feature Revealed in Secret "SPECIAL ROOM"

During the Nintendo Direct for Switch 2 on April 2, it was announced that Deltarune would be making its way to the new console, complete with Chapters 3 and 4, and some exciting exclusive features tailored for the next-generation hardware.

Toby Fox, the creative mind behind Deltarune, shared in a Fangamer newsletter that the Switch 2 version will feature a unique "SPECIAL ROOM" designed to leverage the innovative mouse functionality of the new Joy-Cons. Fox highlighted, "So, we made a very small SPECIAL ROOM which takes advantage of using MOUSE CONTROLS ON TWO CONTROLLERS AT ONCE, only possible on the Nintendo Switch 2!!" This feature promises an immersive experience exclusive to Switch 2 users.

For those playing on other platforms, fear not; the SPECIAL ROOM will still be accessible, though it will employ a different control scheme. Moreover, players can seamlessly transfer their save files from the Nintendo Switch demo of Deltarune 1 and 2 to the new version, ensuring a smooth transition.

Deltarune Future Chapters Will Be Free

Toby Fox also addressed the game's pricing in the newsletter, setting the cost at $24.99. This price covers Chapters 1 and 2, along with the newly released Chapters 3 and 4. While Chapters 1 and 2 were previously available for free, it had been announced that Chapters 3 through 5 would be paid content.

However, in a welcome surprise for fans, Fox announced that all future chapters would be added as free updates. "But, it's my hope that as we complete more Chapters, you'll feel like this game was a super super super super good deal," Fox stated, emphasizing the value players will receive with their one-time purchase.

In addition to the game itself, the Deltarune soundtrack will be available on Steam for $14.99, featuring over 150 songs from Chapters 3 and 4. Songs from future chapters will also be added for free, ensuring that the soundtrack continues to grow and offer value to fans.

DELTARUNE Chapters 1-4 are slated for release on June 5, 2025, coinciding with the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2.
