The veil is lifting, and the wait is nearly over! After an eagerly anticipated decade, BioWare is ready to reveal the release date for Dragon Age: The Veilguard in a special trailer set to premiere today, August 15th, at 9:00 A.M. PDT (12:00 P.M. EDT).

"We’re thrilled to share this pivotal moment with our dedicated fans," the developers announced on Twitter(X). BioWare has also planned a series of exciting reveals leading up to the game's launch. "In the coming weeks, look forward to high-level warrior combat gameplay, a deep dive into our companions, and much more," they shared. Here’s a detailed roadmap of what's coming:

A Decade-Long Development

The development of Dragon Age: The Veilguard has been a saga in itself, marked by numerous delays that have extended its timeline by nearly a decade. The project, initially known as "Joplin," began in 2015 after the release of Dragon Age: Inquisition. However, BioWare shifted its focus to Mass Effect: Andromeda and Anthem, pulling resources and talent away from Joplin. Additionally, the initial design didn't fit with BioWare's move towards live-service games, leading to a complete halt in development.

It wasn't until 2018 that the project was reborn under the new codename "Morrison." After years of hard work, the game was officially announced as Dragon Age: Dreadwolf in 2022, only to be renamed later to Dragon Age: The Veilguard.
