"Hollow Knight: Silksong Steam Update Hints at 2025 Release"

By ScarlettApr 24,2025

Recent updates to the Steam listing for Hollow Knight: Silksong have sparked excitement and speculation among fans, hinting at an imminent re-reveal and possible release. On March 24, changes to the game's metadata were observed, including an opt-in for GeForce Now, modifications to assets, and an update to the copyright year from 2019 to 2025. These alterations, documented on SteamDB, suggest that Hollow Knight: Silksong may be gearing up for a significant announcement, potentially aligning with a 2025 release.

The anticipation around Hollow Knight: Silksong is palpable, especially with Nintendo's Switch 2 Direct scheduled for April 2. This event has fueled rumors of a possible showcase during the Direct, with some fans theorizing that the game might launch as a timed exclusive on Nintendo's next-generation console.

It's been six years since Hollow Knight: Silksong was first announced, and while updates have been sparse, January saw a flurry of activity on social media from Team Cherry, reigniting speculation about the game's status. Originally announced for Windows, Mac, Linux, and Nintendo Switch, Hollow Knight: Silksong has also been confirmed for a day-one release on Xbox Game Pass following Microsoft's deal with Team Cherry.

In June 2022, Hollow Knight: Silksong was featured in Microsoft's Xbox-Bethesda Showcase, with promises that everything shown would be available within the next 12 months. However, by May 2023, Team Cherry announced a delay past the first half of 2023, citing the need for more time to ensure the game's quality. Matthew Griffin, Team Cherry's marketing and publishing lead, stated, "We had planned to release in the first half of 2023, but development is still continuing. We're excited by how the game is shaping up, and it's gotten quite big, so we want to take the time to make the game as good as we can."

As the sequel to the critically acclaimed Hollow Knight from 2017, Silksong carries immense expectations. It remains one of the most wishlisted games on Steam, a testament to the enduring appeal of its predecessor. IGN's review of Hollow Knight praised its compelling world, rich storytelling, and the freedom it offers players in exploring its intricate paths and facing its challenging enemies.
