Marvel Rivals Fans Propose Enhanced Proficiency Reward System

Summary

  • Fans criticize Marvel Rivals for the difficulty in obtaining nameplates without spending money.
  • A Reddit user proposed converting Lore Banners into nameplate rewards to address the issue.
  • Players argue that Proficiency rewards should include nameplates to showcase skill and mastery.

Marvel Rivals fans have expressed dissatisfaction with the game's reward system, particularly the challenge of obtaining nameplates without spending real money. Launched in December 2024, Marvel Rivals kicked off with its Season 0 cycle, offering a limited selection of rewards and skins. The recently released Season 1 update, however, expanded the battle pass to include ten character skins among other customization items like nameplates, sprays, and emotes. Despite the update, players remain unhappy with how nameplates are distributed.

A Reddit user, DaPurpleDerpleOf, took to the Marvel Rivals fan hub to voice concerns about the distribution of Lore Banners and nameplates. Nameplates, which allow players to stand out, are often locked behind the battle pass or require real money to unlock. Some fans even prefer the aesthetics of Lore Banners. In response, DaPurpleDerpleOf suggested converting Lore Banners into nameplate rewards as a solution.

Marvel Rivals Fans Criticize Game's Reward System

In addition to battle pass progression, Marvel Rivals features a Proficiency system where players earn points by playing characters, dealing damage, and defeating enemies. While this system offers various rewards, fans believe nameplates should be included to better reflect their skills and mastery. "Proficiency rewards are super lacking. I hope they add more tiers and rewards down the line," one player commented, with another calling the inclusion of nameplates a "no-brainer." Earning sprays and other items is rewarding, but nameplates would provide an additional way to showcase proficiency.

Marvel Rivals recently launched its Season 1 update, introducing significant changes to the game's roster, including the addition of Sue Storm and Mister Fantastic from The Fantastic Four. These new characters, along with fresh maps and modes, have revitalized the gameplay experience. The rest of The Fantastic Four are scheduled to join the game later, with Season 1 set to run until mid-April.
