Metal Slug: Awakening breathes new life into the iconic 90s run-and-gun franchise. Initially revealed in 2020 by TiMi Studios as Metal Slug Code: J, the game has undergone development and name changes, finally arriving after a Southeast Asia release in late 2023.
For the uninitiated, Metal Slug is a celebrated Japanese run-and-gun series, debuting in 1996 courtesy of Nazca Corporation, and later expanding into a multimedia phenomenon. While previous mobile entries like Metal Slug Defense (2014), Metal Slug Attack (2016), and Metal Slug Commander (2020) paved the way, Awakening promises a significant upgrade.
This new installment stays true to its roots with classic gameplay, but boasts enhanced visuals and innovative mechanics. Team up with familiar Metal Slug characters in new missions, conquer a World Adventure mode, engage in 3-player cooperative action, and test your skills in Roguelike challenges.
