After years of speculation, the long-awaited details of the Nintendo Switch 2 have finally been unveiled, and the results are even more impressive than many anticipated. The new console boasts the ability to support up to 120fps and 4K resolution when docked, setting a new standard for gaming on the go and at home.
During today's Nintendo Switch 2 Direct, Nintendo showcased several exciting features of the system. The Nintendo Switch 2 features a larger 7.9-inch built-in screen compared to its predecessor, maintaining the same thickness of 13.9mm but with double the pixels. This upgrade supports a 1080p resolution in handheld mode at up to 120fps, utilizing an LCD screen that also supports HDR. When docked, the system can deliver stunning visuals at up to 4K resolution with HDR.The new Joy-Con 2 controllers are designed with magnets for easy connection and a release button on the back for detachment. The SL and SR buttons on the sides are larger, enhancing comfort and usability when playing horizontally. Additionally, the left and right sticks are bigger, and the segment officially introduced mouse control support within the Joy-Con controllers.
The handheld version of the Nintendo Switch 2 is equipped with a built-in microphone featuring noise-canceling technology and 3D audio for compatible games, enhancing the immersive experience. It also includes a more robust and adjustable stand compared to the original Nintendo Switch, allowing for different height settings. A top USB port is available for external camera connectivity or for charging the system while in tabletop mode.
A significant upgrade is the inclusion of 256GB of internal storage, providing ample space for games and applications.
