Sony is enhancing the PlayStation Portal experience with a new update for its Cloud Streaming Beta, introducing several user experience and functionality improvements to the remote play system's cloud capabilities, which will be available later today.
A significant feature in this update is the ability to sort games within the Cloud Streaming Beta catalog. Players can now organize their games by Name, Release Date, or by the most recent additions to PlayStation Plus, making it easier to navigate the extensive library.
Another exciting addition is the capability to capture gameplay during Cloud Streaming sessions. Users can access the create menu to take screenshots or record video clips, with support for video up to 1920x1080 resolution and up to three minutes in length, as detailed in Sony's PlayStation blog.
Furthermore, gameplay will now pause when you access the PS Portal quick menu, enter rest mode via the power button, or if a system error message appears. However, the pause in rest mode is limited to 15 seconds; beyond that, the cloud streaming session will disconnect. Note that pausing is not supported during online multiplayer sessions.Additional updates include a queue system for when the streaming server reaches capacity, notifications for inactivity, and new user feedback tools. Sony has committed to continuously refining the service based on user input.
The Cloud Streaming Beta remains exclusive to PlayStation Plus Premium members, enabling them to stream select PS5 games from the PS Plus Catalog directly to their PS Portal. Following last year's update that transformed the Portal into a more independent cloud streaming device, Sony appears dedicated to further developing this feature.
