PUBG Mobile Soars to the Cloud

By JulianJan 09,2025

PUBG Mobile hits the cloud! A cloud-based version of the popular battle royale game is currently in soft launch in the US and Malaysia. This version eliminates the need for downloads or local programs, opening up the game to a wider audience.

Cloud gaming is gaining popularity, offering high-fidelity gameplay on various devices. Krafton's PUBG Mobile Cloud takes a unique approach, positioning itself as a hardware-limitation-free experience, bypassing issues like overheating. While currently limited to the US and Malaysia, a global rollout is expected soon.

For the uninitiated, cloud gaming streams gameplay from a remote server, eliminating the need for local processing. This has significant implications for PUBG Mobile:

Expanding Accessibility

This cloud version is notable because most cloud gaming services are subscription-based. PUBG Mobile Cloud, however, appears to be a standalone offering, potentially attracting a broader player base.

While the game's page lists system requirements, the primary target audience is likely players whose devices struggle to run the standard version.

The long-term success remains to be seen, but a niche market definitely exists.
