SoMoGa Drops A Revamped Version Of 16-Bit Classic JRPG Vay On Android

SoMoGa Inc. has released a modernized version of Vay for Android, iOS, and Steam. This classic 16-bit RPG receives a significant upgrade, boasting enhanced visuals, a streamlined user interface, and controller compatibility.

Originally launched in Japan in 1993 on the Sega CD and developed by Hertz, Vay was later localized for the US by Working Designs. SoMoGa previously revived the game on iOS in 2008.

What's New in the Revamped Vay?

The updated Vay features over 100 enemies, a dozen challenging bosses, and exploration across 90 diverse areas. A welcome addition is the adjustable difficulty setting, catering to various player skill levels.

Other improvements include an automatic save function and Bluetooth controller support for flexible gameplay. Players can acquire new equipment and items, while characters learn new spells as they level up. An AI system allows for autonomous character combat.

The Story:

The game unfolds in a distant galaxy scarred by a millennia-long interstellar war. A colossal, malfunctioning war machine crashed onto the technologically underdeveloped planet Vay, causing widespread destruction.

Players assume the role of a protagonist embarking on a quest to rescue their kidnapped wife, potentially saving the world in the process. Their wedding day is disrupted by an attack, leading to a perilous journey to confront the destructive war machines.

Vay's narrative is captivating, blending classic JRPG elements with modern enhancements. The experience retains its JRPG roots, with character progression through combat encounters. The game includes nearly ten minutes of animated cutscenes with both English and Japanese audio options.

Download the premium version of the revamped Vay on the Google Play Store for $5.99. For more gaming news, check out our other articles, such as the Loving Reveries update in Tears of Themis.
