To achieve the best ending in *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2*, completing specific tasks is crucial, and one of these pivotal tasks involves rescuing Sam. Understanding Sam's location and the steps needed to save him is essential for those striving for perfection in the game.
Rescuing Sam During "Reckoning"
As you approach the conclusion of the main quest line, you'll discover that Sam is being held captive at Praguer’s Camp, captured by Brabant. Your opportunity to save him arises during the main quest "Reckoning." Infiltrating the camp is your best approach, and you have the choice between stealth and violence.
To move freely within the camp without raising alarms, you'll need a guard's outfit. You can acquire one by either eliminating a guard and taking his outfit, ensuring to hide the body afterward, or by searching the camp's chests. Once you have the outfit equipped, you can explore the camp to locate Sam without being questioned.
When to Rescue Sam
After freeing Sam, it's not yet time to escort him out of the camp. Sam informs you about von Aulitz, who is also present in the camp. It's advisable to address von Aulitz first, then secure a horse, and finally return to Sam for the escape. Sam can wait safely, and this sequence simplifies the task, especially since you need to carry him to the horse.
Von Aulitz is located in the main section of the camp. With the guard's outfit, the guards outside his door will allow you to enter without issue. Upon finding von Aulitz, who is already dying, he requests a dignified death, which is the most honorable choice. Alternatively, you can choose to kill him mercilessly or leave him to suffer a slow demise. Interestingly, leaving him to die contributes to the best ending, despite the seemingly harsh decision.
Your final steps involve retrieving Sam from the barn where you left him and securing a horse. If a guard questions your actions with Sam, simply explain that you're moving a body, which will dispel any suspicion. Exit through the camp gates, turn right, and follow the perimeter until you reach the stables.
