Seka - A Card Game

Seka, also known by various names such as Sikka, Sichka, Strekoza, Trinka, Trynka, Drynka, Tri List, Dva List, and others, is an engaging card game with unique rules and strategies.

Features:

  • The game can be played with 2 to 10 players.
  • A full deck of 52 cards is used. For games with up to 4 players, only 20 cards are used (from Tens to Aces).
  • For games with 5 to 10 players, 36 cards are used (from Sixes to Aces).
  • The game includes a Joker, which can be agreed upon to represent any card, typically a Six of any suit.

Card Values:

  • Joker and Ace: 11 points each
  • King to Ten: 10 points each
  • Lower cards: valued at their face value

Winning the Game:

  • The player with the highest total points at the end of the game wins.

Rules of Play:

  • The dealer is determined by a draw. Players contribute an agreed-upon amount of money to the pot.
  • The dealer then distributes three cards to each player, after which players decide whether to discard or play.
  • Points are scored from cards of the same suit - known as a "hlyust" (e.g., a Seven and a Jack of Clubs would score 17 points).
  • If there is no hlyust, the player scores points only from their highest card.
  • Holding three cards of the same rank (a "trikon" or "trynka") always scores higher than any hlyust but not higher than a higher-ranked trikon.
  • Bidding then begins with the player to the right of the dealer making the first bet.
  • Subsequent players can fold, call, or raise the bet.
  • Once the round is complete, the first player decides whether to continue bidding or reveal the cards.
  • The pot goes to the player with the highest score.
  • If multiple players have the same high score, they can choose to split the pot or enter a new round called a "svora".
  • In a svora, the same pot amount is used, plus an additional contribution of 1/N (where N is the previous pot total).
  • Other players can also join the svora by adding their contributions.
  • Bluffing is allowed, where a player can raise the bet with a lower score, and if successful, they can win the pot without revealing their cards.
  • The player to the left of the dealer can make an additional bet called a "temnaya" of any amount without looking at their cards.
  • Subsequent players wishing to continue must double the temnaya bet.
